Initiatives

UPeacebuilders, in conjunction with the U.S. Association for the University for Peace, has developed and launched a number of initiatives that serve as opportunities for UPEACE alumni to make (and enhance) our impact in peacebuilding. All initiatives also help to promote and advance the University for Peace.

  • Alumni Advocacy: Selected UPEACE alumni serve as Alumni Representatives who are charged with the responsibility of carrying out advocacy efforts for the University and The Network for Upeacebuilders.
  • The Fund for Upeacebuilders: Each year a select number of small grants are awarded to graduating UPEACE students to put their UPEACE education into action through fieldwork that addresses an critical need that would not be fulfilled otherwise.
  • 2010 World Youth Peace Summit: Plans are underway to hold the World Youth Peace Summit at UPEACE headquarters in 2010. This Summit will bring together emerging and developing youth leaders to advance action for peace around the world. It also coincides with the 30th anniversary of the University.

As our network and operations expand, so will our initiatives! Let us know if you have ideas for new initiatives and ways that this network can maximize our common vision for a global culture of peace. Read More Here about future intitiatives and how to bring your ideas forward.
